Dr. Evan Rabinowitz Presents
Chinese Medicine
Specialty Rotations Program
The course that you wish you had in TCM school.
Fill in the gaps in your Chinese medical education
Specialized knowledge you'll use everyday!
Why Study the TCM Specialties?
Isn't a General Education Enough?
Most of us graduate from school as “general practitioners” and most CM schools do not provide sufficient education in medical specialties. This program is an opportunity to go through a “rotation” of important specialties, with their particular emphasis and models.

It is important to me that complex theory is rooted in clinical experience, so the program focuses on the conditions that I most often see in my own practice. Join me in a ten month rotation through five specialties: Gastroenterology, Gynecology, Endocrinology, Oncology, and External Medicine.

Having taught Chinese medicine for many years both in and outside of the TCM Colleges, it became clear that what is most needed (and most often requested by students) is a program that addresses three areas:
              1. More clinical training
              2. Deeper knowledge of specialty practice
              3. Integration of western medical concepts into a Chinese medical paradigm (without diminishing or oversimplifying the depths, complexity and explanatory power of Chinese medicine)

Clinical Skills Training
Study Five Specialties

Integration with Modern Medicine

Diagnostics are demonstrated throughout the course of study using using case studies and clear examples of pulse and tongue.

Twice a month, students will meet online with Evan where tongue and pulse presentations will be given to clarify the material of the monthly module and root it in clinical practice. There are four online sessions for each specialty module.

As the program progresses, students will have the option to present cases from their own practice. Meetings will leave ample time for ‘Question and Answer’ and discussion.
The study comes to fruition in your treatment room.

The program includes the integration of key biomedical material. This is particularly emphasized in the modules of Endocrinology and Oncology.

Evan's perspective is to integrate the biomedical models into our Chinese medical model.

The program holds a goal of greater literacy in current Western medical approaches. Pointers to helpful resources will be posted for those interested in a deep study of the biomedical perspectives.

In each module, Evan offers keys for decoding Western diagnostics to be relevant to Chinese medical lines of inquiry.

Evan explains detailed treatment strategies and distinctions through the particular models of each specialty:

*Gastroenterology
*Gynecology
*Endocrinology
*External Medicine
*Oncology

These models offer treatment strategies and vehicles that impart subtle clinical distinctions, which can open many doors for understanding difficult cases.

Understanding the architecture of the specialty and the patho-mechanisms that they reveal allows the practitioner to diagnosis and treatment with more clarity.

CM Specialty Rotations Program Highlights
"This is ten month opportunity for practitioners, newly graduated or established, to find the confidence required to treat difficult and complex cases.

It truly is the program I wish I had taken upon graduating from school."
- Evan Rabinowitz
At this point in time we all have taken Online Classes which..... could be a lot better. Evan effectively employs the best teaching practices for the hybrid format.
  • Self-Paced between Modules - this course is for you and should fit your busy life. Study at the times which suit you best!
  • Online Videos- High Quality recordings and productions overlays. Visual cues and signatures to help you remember, and lessons on how to study and (gasp!) memorize herbs
  • Segmented Lectures- divided to make the material easily accessible and digestible. View the material in succession or look up individual topics. You can study a larger volume of material, without being overwhelmed.
  • Easily Referenced- The format provides an easy reference tool for students and practitioners for future practice. Watch it again!
  • Mentoring via Synchronous Monthly Meeting -Bimonthly meetings for Question and Answers, clarifying explanations with case studies and ongoing mentorship. Busy on Sunday mornings?  The sessions are recorded for your review if you cannot attend. You can submit questions ahead of the session as well.
  • Supportive Cohort- Really! Encouragement is there not just from Evan but you will be in a culture of like-minded practitioners studying along side you

What students say about this program:
"The depth of detail into both the allopathic and Chinese medicine perspectives of the clinical specialties you study in this deep dive should be a doctorate program. I feel like I not only have expertise in these 5 areas but also have references of notes I can quickly access in one place with any answers I need to provide top notch care to my patients."

"I would highly recommend taking the Chinese Medicine Specialty Rotations Program. It is an in-depth exploration of many of the most common complaints seen in acupuncture clinics, which makes it extremely practical. Taking the course has deepened my understanding of Chinese medicine theory in relation to these common complaints. I am now also better equipped to interpret information about my patients' Western diagnoses and treatments through a Chinese medicine lens because of Evan's lectures combining both Western and Eastern perspectives. For each health condition, the course covers both herbal and acupuncture treatment strategies. This has helped me to create more powerfully synergistic treatment plans. Many courses focus on either herbs or acupuncture in the treatment of particular conditions, but this course achieves a true integration of the two topics. The live Q&A and case study sessions are invaluable in tying all of the lecture information together and applying it to complex individual cases, along with added discussions of pulse, tongue, and diagnostic questioning. My confidence and ability to create customized herbal formulas has increased substantially as a result of taking this class, and my patients are seeing the benefits in terms of better clinical outcomes."
- K. Q. S., M.Ac
Washington, DC
"The course has proven to be an invaluable resource. It has deepened and strengthened my understanding of individual herbs as well as formulas, tongue diagnosis skills, the use of the extra and primary channels for specific ailments and patterns, and biomedical understanding of the specialties covered.
The opportunity to present and observe case studies brought the knowledge to life. I feel more confident and better prepared to approach the care of my patients. Complex cases are less intimidating because I have better tools to break down what I am observing. I am constantly referencing the videos and adding to my notes. They are jam packed with valuable information.
I'm extremely grateful that I enrolled. Thank you for taking the time to put it all together."
-K. N. F., L.Ac

"The... program was exactly what I was looking for in a continuing education course.
It provided the support I needed to improve my diagnostic skills in both herbs and acupuncture, especially with complicated cases- invaluable as a relatively new practitioner.
The synchronous classes were always an opportunity to ask questions and learn from the case studies and insights of the other brilliant acupuncturists taking the program.
Evan is a gifted teacher who gives 100% every time, and I feel lucky to be learning from his years of experience and scholarship."
-J. P., L.Ac, MAOM
North Carolina
"I have taken both the Yao Shan Chinese Herb Program and the Clinical Specialties & Practitioner Development Program and they have both been extremely valuable to me. These programs have profoundly influenced my practice and understanding of Chinese Medicine, and have given me the tools I needed to become a better practitioner. Because of the Clinical Specialties program I am much more competent working with patients who are experiencing complex illnesses and disease patterns, and I am far better at diagnosis than I was prior to taking the course. The case studies were a great way to blend theory and lecture into real life scenarios and offered me valuable skills in implementing different treatment strategies. I have also received great feedback from my own patients since starting the program, and have personally seen a lot of success using the techniques covered in the course. I would recommend this program to anyone looking to further their study and abilities in Chinese Medicine, and to anyone looking to improve their patient's care in a meaningful and impactful way."

Disruptions in the endocrine system are becoming increasingly common. Many people that seek help from acupuncturists present with a diagnosis of an endocrine dysfunction and it is often necessary that the practitioner translate this disorder
into Chinese medical terms. Paradoxically, the endocrine system is not recognized by classical Chinese medicine yet it is the most synergistic system in biomedicine and therefore shares some important similarities with Chinese medical physiology.
The study of the endocrine system invites us to look beyond the 12 primary channels and Zang Fu theory to the deepest structures and more mysterious functions of the “Chinese medical body.”

One of the integrative modules, we present a Chinese medicine view of the endocrine system. This perspective allows us to diagnosis and treat complex endocrine disorders within our CM models.
